My new favorite MUST DO spot in Hudson Yards, NYC.
This hits all the marks for me, hard to get reservations, eye-catching food presentation, spectacular food & drinks, and amazing views!
I was in NY/NJ visiting Dave for the week and we were meeting his family for dinner. Dave has easy access to downtown from his place. I will not say 'quick,', as you can tell from my IG NY highlights nothing is quick or easy to get to in NY. LOL
Peak is located 101 floors up in the area of Hudson Yards. At the summit of the 1,296-foot tall tower. There is also a luxury shopping mall as well as a couple of other fine dining restaurants, Milos which I talk about in one of my Instagram reels.
I am not a fan of heights (EEK) and just hearing that we were riding up an elevator to the 101st floor made me pause. But the elevator ride is pretty cool. If you have ever been up the Freedom Tower, it is somewhat similar. Instead, the elevator screen shows the build of 30 Hudson Yards as you rise 1,296 feet above the street. Eeeks!
We were unable to grab a reservation for the weekend night we were meeting family, but we were able to grab seats at the bar for the 3 of us by arriving right when the restaurant opened.

The views are amazing as you can see! And we had a great view from the bar. Dave and I decided we want to come back next time to grab a table by the window at night with the city lights.
So who is Dave? Dave is my boyfriend, of just over a year. I have dated quite a bit since my divorce but have not been in any hurry to be in a relationship. I am comfortable in my skin, happy on my own, and enjoy my independence.
They always say you meet someone when you least expect it...well let me tell you. The way we met was like a Hallmark story! I will do an Instagram story about how we met very soon. So make sure you are following Bites and Flights on IG.

I am also learning to adapt my footwear when I am in the city visiting him. In Ohio and anywhere else I visit, I wear sandals or heels when I am going out to dinner. But NOT in NYC. flats or white tennis or slip-on shoes mean you are a resident, not a tourist and casual wear in restaurants is a lot more common than in Ohio. I would normally not dream of wearing tennis shoes or NOT a dress to go to dinner. LOL We had at quite a few fine dining restaurants and casual footwear was totally acceptable. There is too much walking involved and I am not 20 anymore LOL.
My feet need support! Who else feels my pain ...or tries to avoid the pain!
Back to the most important part...the food. We were having dinner at another restaurant in the building, but we had to order drinks and a few appetizers. The food was AMAZING!! The presentation was stunning. The plates were pieces of art!
We tried 3 appetizers.
The first one, I can not recall exactly which menu item it was, but it was mushroom and parmesan in a pastry. It caught us off guard because it was a cold dish. But it was absolutely divine. If you like mushrooms, you have to try this dish!!
The second one pictured was scallops with cauliflower, and verjus Grape. The foam was delicious and they were cooked perfectly.
The third was my favorite of the three dishes. Heritage carrots with a side of Jersey Girl Ricotta, Cilantro, and Bhumi Farms Citrus. I dipped the carrots into the accompaniment and it gave it a little bit of a kick. The perfect amount of a kick to balance out the cold.
I really could have made a meal out of these three dishes and not shared it with Dave and his daughter. LOL, Sorry guys!

The restaurant itself was very pretty. Very open and lots of light and pink. I enjoy a dark restaurant when I am trying to have a romantic dinner with my honey, but most of the time I want the right light to see what I am eating, take pictures and enjoy a view!

I typically drink a bold red cabernet, but in the summer heat or when I am having cold dishes or fish, I will opt for a sauvignon blanc or NZ or South African white. Although I was recently turned onto a Sancerre, French Sauvignon Blanc and that is my new obsession.
Of course, admiring the view from the bar was great, but the unique thing about 30 Hudson Yards is there is an observation deck called 'The Edge' one floor down from the restaurant. Of course, we had to check it out! There is a glass floor you can step onto, or you can just walk to the glass sides of the deck and check out the cityscape. It truly is amazing.
I am not a fan of heights but after a cocktail, I did step out onto the glass floor for about a hot second. I even have a view of it in my IG Reel about Peak. You will have to check it out.

If you watch Good Morning America, you may recall an episode where the cast climbed up the side of a building in downtown NYC. Well, that was this building. This is way out of my comfort zone and not something on my bucket list. But we did see a group getting suited up to do the climb. I felt great about my accomplishment of stepping over the glass that many stories up. But more power to them for taking on that climb. Whew!

Overall it was such a perfect time at Peak. I will definitely go back and have a full meal with the nighttime city lights as the backdrop. Have you been to Peak? Tell me about your experience?
Cheers,
Lisa
