Wow Destino Tower! -Dahlia Lounge

My family and I stayed at Coronado Springs a few years ago during our many visits to Walt Disney World. I remember that it was a rather large resort to get around. Coronado is a Moderate resort. Its purpose is to house business convention visitors, so it is rather large. The rooms are nice, and they had various options for a bite or beverage, but it was not memorable. There were also multiple bus stops within the resort. We preferred some of the other resorts on Disney property, so we stayed in other places. However, I had been curious to go back and visit with all of the talks regarding the remodel and addition of Destino Tower. The changes include a couple of bars and a signature Spanish tapas restaurant.

But now...Let me just say...

Wow!! Let me repeat it…wow!! The tower is exquisite from the front entrance and throughout. This is my new favorite hotel (visually and offerings) at Disney. Although, I do prefer the Boardwalk area because I like walking to and from Epcot. Here is what I would compare it to. Grand Floridian is definitely high-end and polished. But I always feel I have to be quiet when I am walking around the hotel. It has that feel. Destino Tower, is exquisite, trendy, hip and I feel I could have a cocktail and laugh with my significant other or girls here! In fact, this would be a great place for a girls trip too!

This is my second time visiting the remodel. I made reservations for dinner at Toledo, the signature restaurant of Coronado, so I have an excuse to get into the Destino Tower. Toledo is low lit and none of my pictures came out well. I promise to go back and build a post about this dining experience, as it was excellent. In case you were unaware, you can not drive into a Disney resort property unless you have either a room or dining reservation.

The tower, as I like to call it, is breathtaking. The decor is classy and very modern. Since the resort is Spanish, all of the eats are as well. Dahlia Lounge is tapas and bevs. When you walk into the lobby, you see a beautiful chandelier and staircase that steps down into an open bar area with two stories of windows looking out back to the lake on the property—the XX and Dahlia lounge area on the top floor of the tower. The terrace has comfortable couches and chair seating, and their menu consists of several small tapas items. And the lounge has both an indoor seating area and a wrap-around outdoor patio with views of the parks in the distance.

The Tapas

As you may have noticed, I love to sample when I eat. So I love a good tapas spot. We tried four different items and even enjoyed sipping on a wine flight.

Spanish Charcuterie board, which had a sampling of Spanish meats and cheeses. I loved the various cheeses and my boyfriend loved the meats. Fig jams are very popular lately and I have jumped on the bandwagon. Fig pairs perfectly on a meat and cheese board.

We do enjoy fish and shellfish dishes, and the waitress recommended we try the Shrimp Pil Pil, which I am very glad we did. It was extremely flavorful and the toasted bread tasted delicious dipped in the sauce.

The Ham and Cheese Bocadilo was very good. Mini sandwiches and very flavorful. The bread was toasted and did not overpower the rest of the ingredients. The last dish were Croquettes.

There are so many excellent places for a cocktail or a bite at Coronado. I would consider this hotel the perfect place for a romantic stay or a girls or boys trip. You could just stay on property and skip the parks all together, if you were inclined. Which makes this unique from the other Disney properties. Between Toledo, Dahlia, and the Three Bridges, plus other bars and restaurants, are fun spots.

Coronado Springs is now very memorable, and I can not stop talking about it to friends and family! If you have not visited, I highly recommend you do. I will surely return and even stay as a guest next time.

Cheers,

Lisa
